PRAIRIE SOL II
Prairie Sol II is a prototypical house and a contemporary interpretation of the Prairie Style Architecture designed for a climate zone 5 suburban setting. The plan is divided into two sections - Public and Private that are separated by the entry foyer and 1.5 story solarium. The garage and a den occur off to the side. The solarium acts as a major part of the mechanical function of the house that is raised to accommodate crawl spaces that house mechanical runs. A packaged multi-fuel unit that provides both heating and cooling supplements the passive energy design. Thin Brick on top of Structural Insulated Panels (SIP’s), and energy efficient door and windows make up the buildings envelope. The building specifications meet and exceed the highest LEED standards.
